  1. The wire box humane traps for raccoons are a bad idea, especially in California. First of all, many raccoons, like the pair that visit my yard each night, are too big and strong to be held in such a trap. I had a coon just pry himself out of one of those things last year. Second, one of those traps is at least as likely to trap a skunk. They're plentiful in CA, and elsewhere. If you trapped a healthy, agitated raccoon in one of those wire boxes, think about it. How would you get it out? How would you move the trap? Would you kill the skunk? How? Relocate it, (which is illegal, incidentally)? No. Box traps are a bad idea.

  2. §465.5 (g)(1). Immediate Dispatch or Release.
All furbearing and nongame mammals that are legal to trap must be
immediately killed or released. Unless released, trapped animals shall
be killed by shooting where local ordinances, landowners, and safety permit. This regulation does not prohibit employees of federal, state, or local government from using chemical euthanasia to dispatch trapped animals. Trapped animals must be euthanized or released immediately on site. Relocation of trapped wildlife is prohibited.

  3. Those traps dont work. I have 3 raccoons or more under my house, and they somehow figured out how to get the food out of the trap without getting into it. Those things are too smart.

  4. the dumb racoons around my house learned they better stay away from my cats and cat food or else they get hut over the head with a broom or a plant thrown at them, our stupid neighbors feed then so now their not afraid of humans and i have to litterly chase them off, i hate racoons….
